AUTOCAD DRAFTING AND AS-BUILT PRODUCTION
AUTOCAD DRAFTING AND AS-BUILT PRODUCTION FOR CIVIL, ELECTRICAL AND MULTI-UTILITY DESIGN.
As is the nature of construction, plans change. It may be something like the perimeter measurements of an apartment block, or the re-routing of distribution systems like water pipes. No matter how minutely or grossly, it is important to document these changes where design is altered in some way. In some cases, documenting this revised information can be critical.
For example, in a re-route of piping, shut-off valves will also have moved from what was originally determined. Knowing the exact location of these properties is not only functionally useful, it may also be vital in emergency situations.
WHAT ARE AUTOCAD DRAFTING AND AS-BUILT PRODUCTION?
We touched on it above.
AutoCAD drafting is computer aided design. It is the software based process which assists construction ideas to reach completion. It allows the construction team to significantly reduce the time taken to draw up design plans by producing electronic plans which can be easily altered, rather than taking to pencil and ruler over and over again.
As-Built drawings can be produced on completion of the construction project and accurately reflect the actual dimensions and placements in the final, finished construction. Imagine learning that a building has a major water leak or an air conditioning breakage but the location of the on/off valves are not accurately presented in the original CAD drafting of pipe systems. The maintenance team are not going to be particularly happy, nor are those using the building.
In civil, electrical, and multi-utility design AutoCAD drafting updates and final as-built production are essential to an efficient, quality build which additionally meets on-going health and safety management. The requirement to produce these documents is often outlined in the tender agreement.
